The Fabulous Birdie Num-Num
One fabulous bird,it sure is.
We went home last Saturday to see my dad. While we were chatting with some of our relatives and waiting for dad to come home from the shopping area, my wife and two children went to look at the neighbour's fine feathered friend, the myna in his cage hanging from a low bough of a mango tree.
This bird has been professionally trained. A couple of years back ,it would greet any one who comes near with the sweetest asamulaikum (Peace be with You) greeting. I would consider that as first rate mimicry at that time. This time around, this birdie num num, (for want of its real name) has indeed surpassed itself.
Listen to this exchange dialogue between my wife and Birdie Num Num.
Birdie: Asamukaikum (Peace be with you)
Wife. Mulaikum salam ( And with you also)
Birdie: Want to fight?
Wife. Ok
Birdie: One on one?
Wife: Yes
Birdie: (After a couple of seconds hesitation) Oh no!
Birdie: (In jest) Ha! Ha! Ha! (high pitch)
Fun bird.
Made the children'day visiting grandad.
