Dubious Doublets:

Stewart Edelstein has written a wonderful book. It is a delightful compendium of unlikely word pairs of common origin from aardvark and porcelain to zodiac and whiskey. Take an enchanting tour through the tangled roots of English and you would be surprised at the commonality of unlikely words.

If you are interested in etymology, there is no other book quite as entertaining as this book.
