Lower value ringgit, valueless 10 Sen

Raising prices- they have got it into an art form-impeccable timing.

Talking about inflation again, went to that famous mamak restaurant opposite the McDonald's in SS2 for my usual teh tarik. What a shocker. It has gone up 20 sen for a big mug. Walla, no need for roti canai to go up in price. Every other items like rojak, nasi kandar and the whole paraphernalia on the mamak menu would have orbited to new price levels by the end of July 2007.

Talk about the value of 10 sen. It is now almost worthless.

Went to our famous makchik’s nasi lemak warong in Paramount Garden to 'tapau' nasi lemak and what do you know. When paying up, she told me; “ Lain kali, kalau nak asingkan sambal, kena lah bayar 10 sen untuk bungkus plastik kecil ni.” My, my, imagine what 10 sen had become!

So don't act surprised if you get a much smaller and thinner roti canai before long….
